What is CABIT?

CABIT stands for CABI Teens, and we are the oldest group in the religious school. We meet at the synagogue every Wednesday night from 5:30 to 7:30. Although we associate ourselves with CABI, we are our own “sub-“organization and have separate events from that of the synagogue’s. However, we do receive funding from the synagogue, for which we are extremely grateful, and we try to express that gratitude through assisting CABI in any way we can. Our Wednesday night program includes an hour of service to the community through our madrichim program, working the coffee bar, shelving books, assisting with teaching, and more. In the next hour, we have teen-led Jewish education and time to socialize with our friends.

CABIT welcomes anyone from grades 7-12. The Teens are very receptive and welcoming of anyone who wishes to join; this isn’t like school, where the senior classes mistreat their underlings. No — at CABIT, everyone is friends and there are no such things as cliques or friend groups.

If you’re interested in joining, or even just coming to one Wednesday night, contact our teen adviser, Beth Harbison, at teens@cabi-boise.org.

Regional Social Events:

NFTY-NW Spring Kallah – April 20th-23rd, 2016

Age Restrictions: 8th-12th Grade

Location: URJ Camp Kalsman, Arlington, Washington

Description: NFTY-NW’s last event of the year, which welcomes in the new Freshman class of the coming school year, while saying goodbye to this year’s Senior class as they leave for college. If you’re in 8th grade, this would technically be the first event you’re allowed to go to. However, since CABIT is a small TYG, we permit 8th graders to come to earlier NFTY events; LTI, Fall, and Winter Kallah.

Every couple of weeks, the price to register gets a little more expensive. Until March 8th, the cost for registration will be $220. After that, the cost will be $250 until April 5th, and after that, the final chance and most expensive cost to register will be $280 with no end date. If you decide to register after the 5th, you will also have to contact the NFTY-NW Regional Advisor to see if you are still allowed to go.
